This is only my second fiberglass project, my first one was a small fiberglass repair. Having said that it's not very hard. The most important thing is to cover your bike VERY WELL, the resin is really messy. I used ploy drop cloth for painting projects.

foam! I like to use 1/2 " to keep it low profile.

"It's a long story"
I sent my seat pan in to get foam'ed and covered. The agreement was that the he was going to work on the seat in his free time and get it back to me as soon as he could. I wasn't in a rush at the time as I was still waiting to get my tubular swingarm back so no big deal. Anyway, I got back the swingarm but the seat pan wasn't done yet. The seat guy said he would finish it the next Wed...Thursday guaranteed (which was 5/6 or 5/7). Wednesday came a long and no call....Thursday came around and no call....I was thinking here we go again. Then I get a email first thing Friday morning that my seat pan got crushed/destroyed the previous day when a customer ran over it with his truck along with some tools and his work stool. I was thinking that the guy was full of shit and just gave me an excuse because he didn't finish the seat pan on time. Then on 5/11 I get a check for $300 for the replacement/loss of my seat pan!!!! Turns out he filed a claim with his insurance company on the damage of the accident. I'm kind of sad I didn't get my custom seat done yet but can't complain about getting $300 for my seat pan which cost me about $60 + my personal labor.
The sad part about this whole ordeal is that I can't make a new seat pan any time soon. My rear fender is currently being painted and I'll be busy with work travel and the pregnant wife. Plus I wouldn't want to try to make a new pan until the fresh paint is totally cured as to not damage the paint. On the bright side the original seat pan might have not worked perfectly anyway, I filled my tank seams in after I made the seat pan an it changed the tank enough where I don't think it would have fit as well as it should.
Here's the bike with out my rear fender and the newly painted seamless tank:

that does sorta suck, but sounds like it'll work itself out for the best in the long run. i see not have a fender didn't stop you from installing tail lights and riding though
I really like those front calipers. are those 11" progressive shocks on it?

yep, 11" Progressive 412 SD. I wish they where the Heavy Duty version though. I have them set on the highest pre-load setting so it doesn't touch the rear fender on compression.
I had to give it a road test:) I wanted to make sure the Stumpwerx dust ring and Sumo-X tubular arm was setup correctly. In the end I think the second seat pan that I make will be better than the first. I learned a couple of things in the process of the first one that I could use on the second one.

stock forks with extensions and a KM rake kit. _________________
Yep, the KM Pro Street kit with full length fork covers. The new model of this kit does not require fork extensions anymore, the stock forks are set a the desired height and pinched there by 5 pinch bolts on each leg. Here's a upside down pic of the setup:

Ride is just awesome, I can let go of the bars at 80 MPH and I've taken it up past 110 MPH and it's stable as a rock. Give Stump a call he can give you the low down on the price. _________________

MeanCityCycles Modified 1800c seat coming home. This should hold me tight until I am able to make another custom fiberglass seat pan.
